artist statement
My love for art started at a very young age. From making tiny sculptures with oven-bake clay to collaging. Luckily my family encouraged this artistic side. If I wanted to go to the art and craft store to “look around,” they would take me even if they knew that it would cost them a couple dollars. Because of them I have had the chance of working in multiple mediums and I still do. I draw, paint, collage, sculpt, and photograph. I tend to have different styles in each medium I use. For example, my photography focuses on capturing the emotions of people around me and just the pure beauty of everyday life. In a sense, it is me documenting the world around me, it has helped me engage more with where I am in space and time. I capture these candid moments because I want to preserve that moment in time despite what feelings are being transmitted through the image, though I hope the feelings being displayed are mostly positive. I hope the viewers can see my photographs and feel the emotions being displayed and hopefully also reminding them of their own beautiful journey that is life. My artwork is all over the place! But it is also heartfelt, energetic, and groovy. And the most important thing is that it makes me happy. My artwork is very reflective of my emotions and feelings of certain times. In doing so, it helps me understand myself more deeply and everything around me. My hope is that I am able to transmit these feelings and emotions I feel through my art and for the viewer to also develop their own feelings.
